Welcome to a hot Adelaide Summer. My current Minecraft world resembles the unseasonal weather we are having. It limits the chances to get and and makes for some sticky humidity. However, our plants are doing their growing thing very well.
I watched Free Guy for the first time recently, and I quite enjoyed it. About a dozen times, I said, that reminds me of this movie or that movie. The Lego Movie, The Truman Show, The Matrix etc. But they treated each with respect, blending the elements together. It’s not earth shattering, its not deep. It’s just fun.
Release Update
The Steele Bite, Susie Steele Book 2 is rapidly approaching. There’s a thing or two that I can’t 100% predict, so I am not yet able to announce a release date, but soon! Soon, my pretties. Or something like that. I’ll keep you informed.
Writing Update
Writing is coming back online for 2022. I have pencilled in space for two short stories in the first half of the year, and I’m tempted to try my hand at some flash fiction for what we call ‘reader magnets’. Essentially, in return for readers subscribing to a newsletter, they get a free bit of content at the start. Let me know if that would appeal to you. I’m planning on sending out an email once a month, and keeping it short and snappy.
Now, onto the key projects.
My fantasy work is now up to 160,000 words. I’m steadily editing. Book 1 might be near 90,000 now, but its likely to reach 100,000 words by the time I’m done. There will still be a number of editing passes needed before it sees the light of day, but I’d love to have it out in the first half of this year. That may be pushing it.
The scifi novel I’m working on has reached 2,500 words. It’s still in that early days, working out what’s what phase. However, I’m learning about my characters, and it won’t be long before the events turn explosive.
I have a little writing retreat coming up. The hardest thing is knowing which project to spend my time on while I’m away. But that is a good problem to have.
Focus Book
Before The Steele Bite comes out, don’t forget to revisit where it began. The Steele Trap introduces the antics of Susie, Monika, and Daisy as they solve mysteries, battle ghosts, and survive school.
My favourite part? When they find a certain underground location with mysterious items.
If you haven’t left a review already, now would really make a world of difference to me.
